The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t done making moves to improve their level, and once this season is over, they could be making another big one to bolster their ranks ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.

One NBA executive believes that they could make a run for Trae Young, a player mentioned in several trade rumors recently.

“They went out and got tradeable pieces. If the Hawks don’t make a move in the summer, the Lakers would be a possibility next season,” The executive told Heavy. “It would take a lot, and things would have to align just right for that. I also don’t buy that every guy who signs with Klutch is going to the Lakers, that is obviously not the case. But this is one they have been watching.

“The Hawks could look into the market on Young, but the thing is, it is not going to be as strong as they’d like. He has flaws, a lot of them, and they’ve sort of been exposed in the last couple of years. I am not sure how many real bidders Atlanta would get if they put him on the market, but it probably not as many as they think.”

This would be interesting to see, as the Lakers already have a fast-paced game. Adding Young to the mix would give them a little extra. He brings shooting to the table and is a very solid playmaker.

On the defensive end, Young isn’t the best by any means, but the Lakers can create a good team around him that can make up for his defensive struggles. This appears to be a long shot right now, but this is the Lakers we’re talking about, and they can work their magic to put their hands on Young.

He’s in the first year of his five-year, $215 million deal, but his time with the Hawks could be coming to an end soon. The player is joking with the rumors, sending cryptic messages to the public, so only time will tell if he can join the Lakers soon.

Los Angeles Lakers Are Still In The Kyrie Irving Race

Meanwhile, the Lakers have been linked with another talented point guard, Kyrie Irving. Even before he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, Irving was a big target for the Lakers, but the Nets refused to deal him to the Purple and Gold.

With D’Angelo Russell seemingly tired of his role on the team, perhaps a new floor general will be coming to Crypto.com Arena. Whether it is Kyrie or Trae, we have to wait to know. This can be an interesting race, and the Lakers could end up having a terrific Big 3.
