After an abysmal start to the NBA season, the Miami Heat have gone 7-3 over their last 10 games to move up to 7th place in the Eastern Conference. For a team with title aspirations ahead of the season, they are still not where they want to be, even if things are finally starting to look up.

But Miami’s early struggles have caused a ripple effect throughout the NBA and now one of their own is having a turn on the rumor mill.

According to NBA insider Sean Deveney, Bam Adebayo has generated significant interest in the trade market, with various teams making calls to the Heat with an offer. According to Deveney, however, the Heat have yet to entertain any of the interested parties.

With how poorly they’ve played, some have speculated that they could hit the trade market. However, sources who spoke with Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports indicate that they have shut down all calls about Bam Adebayo. That being said, the source also revealed an inner frustration with Adebayo.

“As far as I know, anyone calling on Bam is getting shut down immediately,” an Eastern Conference GM told Deveney. “They’re not going in that direction. But you know, at the same time, there is some frustration within the team that he is not the consistent star they think he should be. When he is aggressive and playing like he thinks he’s the best guy on the floor, forget it, he is a Top 10 or 15 player. You just don’t get that version of him game in and game out. Trading him though, that is off the table.”

As an NBA All-Star and 3x All-Defensive player, Bam Adebayo is more than a star for the Heat. He’s the engine that keeps them going and, without him, they face the risk of losing their identity completely. But is Bam and his co-star Jimmy Butler really enough to come out of the East, or do they still lack enough depth to get it done?

Can The Miami Heat Turn Their Season Around?

The Heat have played some great basketball lately and there’s still enough of the season left to finish with a respectable record. Bam, even with all his flaws, will have to be the one that takes them there.

“There is some frustration within the team that he is not the consistent star they think he should be,” a source told Jack Simone of Heavy. “When he is aggressive and playing like he thinks he’s the best guy on the floor, forget it, he is a Top 10 or 15 player. You just don’t get that version of him game in and game out.”

Only time will tell what the Miami Heat decide to do with their underachieving roster, but trading Bam is not the answer. If they play the cards right, they build around Adebayo and surround him with enough firepower to overwhelm any opponent.

For now, though, they must start by taking it one game at a time as they slowly climb the standings.
