Trae Young was feeling very confident after the Atlanta Hawks defeated the New York Knicks in a close 121-116 game. Young, who has a long-standing rivalry with the Knicks fanbase, took a shot at them after the game, joking that he hopes that they can find the exit to the State Farm Arena in Atlanta with relative ease.

“I hope these New York fans find their way to the exit real, real quick… Booo. Take y’all a** home.”

Young has been an antagonist for the Knicks fanbase since 2021 when he and the Hawks defeated the Knicks in their first-round playoff series. Young became a true villain in Madison Square Garden, taking over the mantle held by Reggie Miller, who was previously the villain in the eyes of Knicks fans.

Things got so intense in the series that a fan sitting courtside spat at Trae Young, which is not just disgusting, but also dangerous given that the world was still dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic at the time.

Despite the two sides facing off in a playoff series just once three years ago, the rivalry has remained strong in the past few years. Whenever the Knicks win a big game at the Garden, the fanbase immediately begins chanting ‘F**k Trae Young’. So it’s unsurprising to see Young respond in kind after a big win.

Young had a great game against the Knicks, as he put up 23 points, 10 assists, six rebounds, and two steals. Young didn’t particularly shoot the ball well, going 7-21 from the field, 3-9 from beyond the arc, and 6-8 from the free-throw line. But despite the inefficient shooting night, Young was able to help the Hawks seal the big win over the Knicks.

It was also a big night for Hawks rookie Zaccharie Risacher, who delivered 33 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks. The young rookie seems to have formed a strong duo with Trae Young.

Can Trae Young Lead The Hawks To The Playoffs?

Trae Young has endured a few difficult seasons with the Hawks in recent years. The franchise hasn’t been able to find a decent co-star for him, with players like Dejounte Murray not being able to form a partnership with Young. While he has constantly been able to put All-Star numbers, it hasn’t translated to winning basketball.

Young and the Hawks had one of the worst records in the NBA last year, with 36-46. They made the play-in tournament, but their poor record helped them land the first overall pick, which they used to pick Zaccharie Risacher. If Risacher can be their second star, the Hawks can return to the playoffs, despite the tough competition in the East.

For the season, Trae Young is averaging 23.8 points, 10.9 assists, 4.6 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game. If he can continue putting up similar numbers, the Hawks can make some noise as a dark horse team in the Eastern Conference.
