Draymond Green is not one to silently take criticism of his actions. So when Josh Hart saw an old comment from Green finding a fault in Jalen Brunson’s famous $113 million sacrifice, and he scrutinized his remarks, the Warriors veteran made sure to clap back.

“Dude waited two years to respond to that video from 520? Why not say it then? Let’s normalize not front-running and talking while you up. Be on the same type of time AT ALL TIMES!” wrote Green on Threads.

Hart recently saw a resurfaced version of the clip that picked out Draymond Green’s comments on Jalen Brunson’s sacrifice from an interview that the Warriors veteran appeared in on the Club 520 podcast with Jeff Teague almost two years ago.

Green said the situations were not comparable because the Knicks had enough financial flexibility to pay their stars without asking them to take discounts. And he anticipated that as the fourth option on the Warriors, he would be expected to take the pay cut.

He explained that his decision to accept less money in Golden State was driven by the Warriors already committing massive contracts to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, making it necessary for someone to sacrifice. Draymond Green argued that a team’s top player should not be expected to take a pay cut, adding that Curry and Thompson never did.

While he said he was still happy for Brunson, Green admitted he did not understand the decision, noting that it meant walking away from roughly $113 million.

It is clear that in the era of social media, old clips can cause this type of confusion in terms of the timeline of events. Hart may have missed these comments altogether back when Green said it and only saw it now when someone decided to clip it and post it again.

And although it is unlikely, assuming that Hart had seen these comments before and decided to address them only now, it does not negate the substance of what he is saying.

Hart simply wants people to stop criticizing what others decide to do with their money or potential income. Financial decisions should apparently be a person’s private matter.

However, for a superstar like Jalen Brunson, the modern media makes it nearly impossible to hide such major financial decisions. Brunson is now looking at a potential extension in 2027 valued at over $300 million.

Since his decision will decide what the salary cap flexibility of the defending champions would look like, it is nearly impossible for it to not become a subject of public scrutiny. It will be interesting to see if Josh Hart responds to Draymond Green now after this.
