Draymond Green is never one to hold back when it comes to talking trash or telling stories, but it turns out, he’s not even the best trash talker in his own family. That honor belongs to his mom.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Golden State Warriors star revealed just how ruthless his mother, Mary Babers-Green, can be when watching him play basketball. And according to Draymond, she doesn’t discriminate; she’ll flame the entire Warriors squad from the stands, including her own son.

“My mom would never come on the court. She wouldn’t do that. But my mom, since I was a child, has been the mom who, like, from the stands, she yells, ‘You suck.'”

“But the thing about my mom is, she talks bad about all the players on my team… Oh, she kills them… But she absolutely annihilates me.”

“So it’s one of those things that, like, I’ve always heard the stories from it, where, in the beginning, a parent will almost, like, want to get snappy at her. And as they continue to watch, they realize how bad she talks about me, they’re just like, ‘Oh, that’s no problem, what she’s saying about my kid.'”

“So it’s always, like, when I was younger, I could always hear it because the gyms were smaller. And I used to sometimes turn around and be like, ‘Mom, stop.’ And, like, she wouldn’t talk to me for days after I did that… she’d be mad at me as if I did something wrong.”

Draymond, known as one of the NBA’s most vocal and intense players, explained that his mom’s relentless courtside commentary has become legendary. In fact, it was so intense that other parents at his youth games would initially get offended by her yelling until they realized just how harsh she was on her own son.

Back when he was playing in smaller gyms, Draymond could hear her loud and clear, and sometimes, he just couldn’t take it.

This hilarious, unfiltered story was prompted by Kimmel bringing up the now-infamous confrontation between Giannis Antetokounmpo and John Haliburton during Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

After Giannis exchanged words with Tyrese Haliburton’s dad, the Pacers took swift action, barring John from attending the next round against the Cavaliers. However, he was later allowed back into the building during the Conference Finals against the Knicks.

Draymond’s mom, by contrast, has never crossed the line, she’s always kept her criticism in the stands. But her savage honesty and total lack of filter have become a defining part of Draymond’s basketball journey. She might roast him mercilessly, but she’s also his fiercest supporter.

As Draymond wrapped up the story, the message was clear: he might be one of the most feared voices in the league, but at home, his mom is the true MVP of trash talk.
