LeBron James doesn’t have any public beef with rapping legend Drake but he still found himself on the wrong end of his latest freestyle. After his new track, “Fighting Irish” freestyle, the 38-year-old cultural icon was accused of calling out LeBron in his latest hit track.

“Remember we tradin’ watches?

I gave you that Arabic dial, you gave me a numbered edition

You would even check up on my son like a pediatrician

Sure convinced the gang this sh*t was rooted in love when it isn’t

Show me how different we are, theres blessings in juxtaposition

I guess now you boys gotta abandon your summer tradition

Cold shoulders I gave in the Hamptons, it come with the distance

Figured we was always gon’ be close, like ovens and kitchens

I was sadly mistaken, the loyalty wasn’t a given…”

Drake, a notorious Toronto Raptors fan, has been one of the most prominent celebrity fans involved with the NBA. He’s appeared on various platforms over the years, from a guest on broadcast shows to a courtside fan cheering on his hometown team. He used to have a pretty good relationship with LeBron James and other NBA stars, but recent developments have called into question the nature of their relationship.

“The LeBron/Drake Stan wars are gonna feed generations,” wrote an NBA fan in a viral post.

On the matter of this viral diss track, LeBron James was not mentioned once, but it didn’t take long for fans to piece together who Drake was rapping about. Arguably the biggest piece of evidence that he’s going off on LeBron is the name of the track itself.

The “Fighting Irish” was the name of LeBron’s basketball team at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School. That’s where James first emerged on the national radar and where his path to stardom first took off. It’s not by coincidence that Drake’s latest track shares the same name.

Another key hint is the mention of the ‘Arabic dial.’ While luxury watches are hardly rare for rich celebrities, LeBron has been publicly spotted wearing a platinum rolex with an Arabic numeral dial.

Of course, LeBron has been seen with Drake and his son, Adonis and it makes sense that he tried to make some kind of connection at some point. LeBron and his son, Bronny, were also special guests for Drake’s concert at the Crypto.com arena in August of 2023.

But now, it seems Drake has severed ties with LeBron and the James family. The beef seems to date back to Drake’s rivalry with Kendrick Lamar, which went viral online in 2024. James admitted to “loving” Kendrick’s diss track and later attended his show in the summer, where he was seen mouthing the words to Dot’s song “TV Off.”

Drake has seemingly taken notice of this behavior and that betrayal became the subject of his latest diss track. Of course, we may never know for sure who or what that rap was speaking on but fans are convinced that at least some of it was intended as shade for LeBron James.

For now, this is all we know of the supposed beef between LeBron and Drake and until one side comes out to deny it, fans will continue to consider the ‘Fighting Irish Freestyle’ as a diss to LeBron James and other celebrities who may have betrayed him in the past.
