Zhuri James Makes Adorable Comments About LeBron James In New Netflix Series

Even though it is just the trailer for Netflix’s ‘Starting 5’, Zhuri James might steal the show in the docuseries. In the trailer for the upcoming show, Zhuri speaks about the legacy LeBron James has in the sport of basketball, but how to her and their family, he is just a normal human being who happens to play basketball for a living.

“Everyone thinks our dad is the legend of basketball. But he’s just like a normal person.”

(0:11 onwards)

In the trailer above, Zhuri can be seen holding back a rye smile while talking about LeBron James. In a hilarious bit of editing, the show has a scene of LeBron dressing up as the fictional character Beetlejuice for Halloween last year, juxtaposing Zhuri’s comments of him being a normal individual very well.

It was a humorously cut-and-dry comment from young Zhuri about her father. But she delivered it in such an earnest and adorable manner that fans cannot help but appreciate both her candor and her endearing vision of her father. Hopefully, Zhuri will be featured in ‘Starting 5’ as much as possible.

This Netflix show is an expansion of the streaming giant’s ambition to make serialized sports content.

After the success of Michael Jordan’s ‘The Last Dance’, the streaming platform has invested money into several sports-related documentaries, including one focusing on the 2008 Team USA ‘Redeem Team’, a look back at the 2004 Malice at the Palace incident, and a documentary focusing on the final years of Tony Parker’s NBA career.

The series will focus on five NBA players at different points of their careers during the 2023-24 NBA season – Anthony Edwards, Domantas Sabonis, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, and LeBron James. Considering the contrasting fortunes all five players experienced last year, the series will make for an interesting watch.

Will We Get A LeBron James ‘Last Dance’ Style Documentary?

There have long been rumblings that LeBron James will eventually get a documentary similar to ‘The Last Dance’, chronicling his 20-plus year career in the NBA. Considering James has his own production company and has a lot of powerful contacts within the media sphere, that is not difficult to believe at all.

However, one has to wonder when any such documentary would even come out. James, despite turning 40 years old this December, is still playing in the NBA at the highest level possible and doesn’t look like he will slow down anytime soon. But one can presume that he has a film crew at key moments filming him so he can reflect on the footage later when talking about his career.

James is incredibly media savvy and knows what the public perception around him is and can be. He showed off this awareness during a recent Instagram story promoting Hennessy, where he poked fun at the joke of him constantly only reading the first page of a book in pictures.

Whenever this documentary of LeBron James does drop, it will be required viewing for basketball fans all over the world. To be able to see arguably the greatest career in NBA history play out in a short, serialized format will only help bring more eyes to the league, something James has been doing all his career.
