Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant is known to be an active presence on social media, who tends to respond to what he sees. Recently, Durant found himself coming across an NBA analyst who uses astrology to explain certain aspects of the game. Needless to say, the Suns forward had a lot to say about this.

Durant was reacting to a clip from the “PHNX Suns Podcast” where “The Zodiac GM” attempted to explain the issues regarding the Suns’ core of Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. The analyst addressed the matter by saying:

“It’s because it’s Kevin Durant. The reason why I say that is because of the way the Phoenix Suns were previously constructed before he arrived; they were good. As you know, Chris Paul was there, Phoenix Suns were pretty good. That team made the Finals.”

“That team, if you kind of take a step back, Chris Paul is a Taurus, Devin Booker’s a Scorpio. A lot of the water and earth elements tend to understand each other. Just think of it like speaking the same language, in an energy sense.”

“When you start mixing some of the opposite elements, like Kevin Durant, who is a Libra, air sign, has high influence… His usage, his influence, is so heavy that it could affect the team that was there previously.”

The analyst added how the earlier rotation with Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, and Deandre Ayton all had compatible signs and a synergy that helped them succeed. While this made sense on paper, Durant couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

“We got an astrologer tellin this man about our locker room, and even crazier, this man is believing it. What a clown,” tweeted Durant in response to the clip.

Durant’s disbelief, while valid, may not necessarily be enough to justify Phoenix’s performance this season. The Suns boasted one of the most talented cores in the NBA. However, with a 34-46 record, they were among the worst teams in the West.

The trio of Durant, Booker, and Beal was almost destined to fail. With effectively no player being able to act as a primary distributor, the team simply didn’t have the balance required to succeed.

Durant had himself a solid season all the same. With an average of 26.6 points and 4.2 assists on 52.7% FG, the 36-year-old forward remains productive in every context. Unfortunately, a failed campaign has ensured that the Suns will be heading in a different direction, and the 15x All-Star will not be a part of it.

With this, Durant has become a key element in a majority of the trade rumors heading into the offseason. Having been linked to teams such as the Rockets, the Clippers, and even the Spurs, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for one of the most gifted scorers in NBA history.
