The Golden State Warriors are another NBA team making some noise with their off-season moves, parting ways with one of their future stars.

Three days before announcing the Warriors would keep Jordan Poole for ‘at least four more years,’ Mike Dunleavy Jr. made a U-turn and decided to send the guard to Washington in exchange for Chris Paul

“With his contract extension, we’re planning on having him here for four more years at least,” he said.

Jordan Poole was expected to become a big part of the Warriors’ future, especially after Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson retired from the game. Now, however, he will have to be that for the Washington Wizards.

The Dubs didn’t have the best 2022-23 NBA season. Things started in a terrible way after Draymond Green viciously punched Poole, which set the tone for a tumultuous campaign.

The 2023 playoffs were the prime example that this team needed to make some changes during the offseason, and it’s clear that they’re favoring keeping Draymond over Poole.

Jordan Poole Is On His Way To Washington Now

The young guard is now headed to D.C., where he’ll join a team set to start a rebuilding process following many years of failures. The Wizards recently got rid of Bradley Beal, Kristaps Porzingis, and now Chris Paul.

Poole will inherit a team that will struggle a lot to compete in the next couple of years. However, in a different situation, with different teammates, and presumably as the No. 1 option, he can thrive now.

Last season, he posted 20.4 points, 4.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 82 games for the Warriors. His level decreased a little bit, but Poole is ready to bounce back in Washington and bring some hope to a team that has been in the shadows for a really long time.

As for the Warriors, they’ll have to work hard to prove that this move was the right call. Fans are not convinced that Chris Paul can be that impactful for them, but the team is keen to make a championship run with the veteran.
