The Portland Trail Blazers are a team that missed the playoffs at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, and many have suggested that the team should try and rebuild. However, the team has shown no indication of trying to do so.

Recently, it was revealed that the Portland Trail Blazers have shut down all trade talks regarding superstar Damian Lillard, and it is fair to assume that the team will build around him. If that is the path they want to take, then they should try and retain two-way forward Jerami Grant. A recent report from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype revealed that it may cost them a lot to do so, as league executives believe he could command a five-year, $150 million deal.

“Speaking of veterans, Blazers forward Jerami Grant is expected to command $30-plus million annually in free agency, according to several NBA executives who spoke to HoopsHype. Multiple teams with cap space are expected to have interest in Grant, including the Detroit Pistons most notably, and could make a run at Grant, one of the top free agents on the market. Multiple executives around the league believe Grant could command a five-year, $150 million contract from Portland to remain long-term.”

There’s no doubt that this is a huge contract to pay for a player that has never made an All-Star appearance, but Jerami Grant is still a quality player that likely slots in as a No. 2 or No. 3 option on a championship team. That is the sort of player you want to retain, especially as a small-market franchise.

This season, Jerami Grant put up 20.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 2.4 APG for the Portland Trail Blazers while shooting 40.1% from 3PT range. It’ll be interesting to see whether he ends up staying with the Portland Trail Blazers or whether he goes to another team via free agency.

The Portland Trail Blazers Have Been Preparing A Trade Package For Bam Adebayo

The Portland Trail Blazers have seemingly been hard at work, trying to get help for Damian Lillard. In fact, a previous report revealed that the team is preparing a package for Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo.

“Portland is preparing what the team believes to be a compelling package for Miami to part with All-Defensive centerpiece Bam Adebayo.”

Bam Adebayo is an elite five-position defender and a solid playmaking big man. It makes sense that the Trail Blazers want to acquire him, as the defense has been one of their struggles. However, it is unlikely that the Heat will trade him, as he was just a key part of their Finals run.
