Draymond Green’s recent aggressive actions on the basketball court have sparked controversy and drawn criticism, especially for seemingly targeting European players. Following his ejection for a wild swing at Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic, former NBA player Nick Young voiced his opinion on the matter. Young, a former teammate of Green, labeled him as a “cheap shot guy” and suggested that Green tends to engage in altercations, specifically with foreign players.

“As a fan of Draymond, its getting harder and harder to defend this… He’s more of a cheap-shot guy, but he tends to do that to a lot of Europeans. He messing with nothing but foreigners… I understand people don’t like Gobert, the most unlikable guy, but you don’t run in there and grab somebody by they neck.”

“Draymond had a lot of UFC. You know how he ran out, that’s how they be running down the ramp.” (8:40)

Green’s track record of on-court incidents has been noteworthy, with recent events including a choke-hold on Rudy Gobert and the wild swing at Nurkic. The common thread in these altercations is that both Gobert and Nurkic are European players. Young’s statement implies a pattern in Green’s behavior, raising questions about sportsmanship and fair play.

In response to the incident with Nurkic, Green explained that he was attempting to sell a call and inadvertently made contact. Despite expressing regret, the incident marked his 19th career ejection, the highest among active players, and his third ejection of the season. The NBA is now faced with the decision of potential disciplinary action against Green.

Green’s aggressive style, coupled with his history of altercations, has led to speculation about his future with the Golden State Warriors. Coach Steve Kerr has displayed dissatisfaction with Green’s behavior, and there are discussions both within the team and externally about the possibility of trading him.

The uncertainty surrounding Green’s actions adds a layer of intrigue to the ongoing NBA season. With the league expected to take a strict stance on unsporting behavior, the aftermath of Green’s recent actions may serve as a deterrent against similar conduct on the basketball court.

Draymond Green Is Going To Be Out For A While

Draymond Green’s tumultuous season takes another hit as he faces an indefinite suspension from the NBA, marking his second suspension in just a month. The latest incident occurred during the Warriors’ game against the Suns when Green punched Jusuf Nurkic, resulting in his ejection from the game. The NBA, considering Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts, has taken decisive action by suspending him indefinitely.

The suspension comes in the wake of a series of aggressive on-court incidents involving Green in recent weeks, including altercations with Terance Mann, a choke-hold on Rudy Gobert, and confrontations with Anthony Edwards, Donovan Mitchell, and Jarrett Allen. The league’s intervention underscores the severity of Green’s behavior and aims to address the pattern of violent play on the court.

As part of the suspension, Green is required to undergo counseling and demonstrate to the NBA that he has taken the necessary steps for his return to the court. The Warriors, currently struggling with a 10-13 record, face challenges with the absence of Green, their defensive anchor, for a significant number of games.

In response to the incident with Nurkic, Green expressed remorse in a post-game press conference, claiming that the punch was accidental and intended to sell a call. However, whether intentional or not, Green’s history as a repeat offender prompted the league to send a strong message through the suspension.

The situation raises questions about the Warriors’ internal dynamics, with Coach Steve Kerr facing challenges in managing Green’s behavior. The suspension not only impacts the team’s competitive prospects but also highlights the need for a more effective approach to player discipline within the organization.
