LeBron James has taken the mantle as the all-time leading scorer in NBA history from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by scoring his 38,388th point against the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight.

This might just be the defining regular-season moment for the modern era of basketball, as a record that stood tall for almost 39 years fell to one of the greatest players to ever live, who consistently dominated the game for 20 years.

James has been signed to Nike since he was in high school and has built an incredible relationship with them. He has his own team within the organization, a center for innovation named after him, and a lifetime contract with the shoemaker.

Nike paid tribute to LeBron by making a stunning video that took some of James' best moments and interpolated them with a church sermon that sought to recognize his greatness.

James has achieved everything he could have in the sport. Though he never set out to be the all-time leader in points scored, his career has led him to this point. Hopefully, we see many more years of James dominating the game.

Watching History Be Made Amidst A Bad Season

LeBron James has been sensational this season and is trying to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a playoff berth despite their roster deficiencies. He scored 36 points in 3 quarters to break the record but his Lakers are still losing to the 12th-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.

Trades are desperately needed in LA to salvage the season and ensure LeBron hasn't made history in a loss while wearing a Lakers uniform once again. He has elevated his level of play and now it's time for the Lakers' front office to elevate their level of work and find James some help on this roster.
