In his reflections on the Nuggets’ triumph over the Lakers in Game 5, Nikola Jokic provided insights into the team’s resilience and collective effort, particularly throughout the series. Despite the Lakers’ formidable challenge, Jokic, who averaged an impressive 28.2 points, 16.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists against them, emphasized the importance of sealing the series and underscored the Nuggets’ steadfast dedication to their objective.

Reporter: “How would you describe the fight of your team to advance to the second round?”

Nikola Jokic: “It was a tough game. They of course came here to get a win, to extend the series. We wanted to close it out. It was an interesting game, tough game, and we won the game that’s the most important.”

Reporter: “You basically averaged a triple-double in this series. How were you able to do what you do?”

Nikola Jokic: “I mean we are playing that kind of basketball, that brand of basketball and it seems to be working. The guys actually didn’t make a lot of shots but we created open shots and we trust each other and probably that’s the reason why we’re winning.”

Reporter: “For Jamal to be questionable coming into this game and then to have the performance like he did, how would you describe what he showed?”

Nikola Jokic: “I mean, yeah, we know that he’s a tough guy and we knew that he’s going to play and we know what he’s capable of doing.”

Reporter: “What did you learn about your team that you can now take forward? You talked about how tough the Lakers would be that you can now use against the Minnesota Timberwolves.”

Nikola Jokic: “We don’t quit. That’s something that we, since I came here, that’s a kind of tradition. We don’t quit. We were down in basically every game and we won the series. So we are tough and we know what our goal is.”

Reporter: “Alright, let Nuggets Nation know how you need them to show up here in the second round.”

Nikola Jokic: “It’s amazing to play in front of them. They brought energy like today and I’m happy that we won in front of our crowd.”

Reporter: “Congrats on the win, Joker. Thank you.”
