Nikola Jokic, since he joined the NBA, has steadily established himself as one of the best players in the NBA. The 2-time MVP is currently playing to win his first NBA championship. It’s been a long road for Jokic, one that has involved learning from some of the all-time greats in this league.

Nikola Jokic revealed how his first encounter against Tim Duncan went down.

“Probably he’s one of the best power forward players to play the game,” he said. “He did with such ease… I remember when he played against me, he was a little bit older, but he still gave me the easiest 20 points ever in life probably. He always had a counter, but he was so patient… I think he’s a great player to look up to, to model your game to him.”

Jokic clearly has so much respect for Tim Duncan and wants to model his game, and his career after the Spurs legend. Duncan’s performance against Jokic could be described as a teachable moment, as the Serbian big man would have learned a lot from Duncan while playing against him.

Nikola Jokic – The Next NBA Great?

Nikola Jokic recently spoke about the players whom he modeled his game after. Along with a bunch of European greats, Jokic mentioned NBA legends like Shaquille O’Neal and of course, Tim Duncan. Jokic now has his chance to join those legends and establish himself as one of the greatest players in NBA history.

If Nikola Jokic leads the Denver Nuggets to their first NBA championship, there is no doubt that Jokic would be looked at as an All-Time great. His regular season success in the past, combined with a potential championship and Finals MVP would make him one of the most decorated players in the league.
