Bol Bol was waived by the Orlando Magic earlier this month, but a player with a unique skillset like him was always going to get another chance in the league.

That chance came with the Phoenix Suns, who signed him to a one-year deal on Sunday. Bol isn’t expected to have a huge role in Phoenix, but Patrick Beverley thinks he could have a breakout season with them.

“Don’t be surprised if BoL BoL have a break out year”

2022-23 was actually a breakout season for Bol, with career highs across the board. He averaged 9.1 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 1.0 APG, 0.4 SPG, and 1.2 BPG while playing 70 games and starting 33 of them.

He is not going to be starting for the Suns with Deandre Ayton still there and it is hard to see Bol outperforming him to the point that he replaces him in the lineup. He can, though be a valuable contributor off the bench, with his shot-blocking, outside shooting, and ability to handle the ball at times. The bench was one of the biggest problems for the Suns last season, and with Bol, they have further reinforced that unit.

It Is Championship Or Bust For The Suns

To say the Suns have gone all-in, might somehow be an understatement. To acquire Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal this year, they traded away their talented young players and a lot of draft capital.

We have seen teams be in win-now mode, but probably not to this extent, and if they don’t win a championship after making all these moves, it is going to be viewed as a colossal failure.

Unfortunately for the Suns, they don’t have a big title window either, as Durant is 34 while Beal is 30 and they both are injury-prone. You’d think that this core group can contend for probably two seasons at max and it’d be interesting to see how they cope with that immense pressure to win right away.
