The Orlando Magic took the bold step of waiving fan favorite Bol Bol earlier today, a move that came as a surprise after Bol had a positive season in Orlando.

Fans were stunned to see the once-hyped prospect, who his own teammates compared to Victor Wembanyama, be released from another team.

Fans joked about the Spurs signing him and playing him alongside Victor Wembanyama.

Lakers fans want their team to sign Bol to provide another scoring punch off their bench.

Mavericks fans were also trying their luck as their roster still needs some seven-footers for size.

While most fans were trying to get him to their own NBA team, one fan said he may be on his way to Taiwan with his NBA experience having ended.

Many fans were confused as to why Bol hasn’t been able to find a home in this league.

One fan jokingly claimed Bol Bol is still better than Wembanyama.

One fan openly said that Bol’s career issues have to be related to his mindset and mentality, otherwise, teams wouldn’t be giving up on him so easily.

Bol averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 70 games in what many believed to be a breakout season for the young star. Unfortunately, he struggled to get consistent minutes toward the end of the year. The Magic have a super-loaded frontcourt so Bol was dispensable.

The 7’2″ forward has defensive flaws at his size, incapable of playing on the perimeter and not being strong enough to protect the paint. His offensive skills are legitimate, and some teams could look at him as a bench-scoring option.

The Magic Are Moving Forward

The young Orlando Magic have built a solid roster already through good front office work. They drafted the reigning Rookie of the Year in Paolo Banchero last season and added a talented wing in Franz Wagner before that. That duo is promising to be lethal, as Magic added scorer Jett Howard and 6’7″ point guard Anthony Black in the 2023 Draft.

Black and Howard coming in make it clear that the Magic will look to move on from either Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony, or Markelle Fultz soon. Bol being waived could be to create a roster spot in preparation for a trade.

Bol will have to start searching the market and find his third home in the NBA after being drafted in the second round in 2019 by the Denver Nuggets.
