  • Kawhi Leonard is the funniest player on the Clippers, said Paul George
  • Kawhi had an interesting story where he didn’t want to run after airballing during practice
  • Kawhi could become a free agent in 2024, as the Clippers are in no hurry to offer an extension

Paul George had no second thoughts in calling Kawhi Leonard the funniest player on the LA Clippers, and he had a hilarious story behind his claim.

Speaking on his podcast along with teammate Terence Mann, George went on to explain how Kawhi would leave his teammates in splits.

“The s*** he says, and the moments he says it, it is hilarious,” the guard said when recollecting Kawhi’s response when he shot airballs during practice. It so happened that Brian Shaw made a rule that if a player shot an airball, they would have to run the length of the court, as “nobody was above the law.”

Except for ‘The Klaw’.

“Kawhi’s like, ‘I’m not running’. And B Shaw like ‘Nobody is above the law’. He was like, ‘It’s basketball, I’m going to airball again. You are not about to coach me or teach me that airballing is not good. It’s part of the game.’”

Both George and Mann were laughing hard while the former was narrating the story, and it just goes on to say how funny Kawhi is as he could keep a straight face while delivering his lines.

The Clippers Aren’t Rushing To Give Kawhi Leonard A Contract Extension

Kawhi Leonard has been eligible to sign an extension with the team since this month but nothing has happened on that front, and Clippers insider Ohm Youngmisuk explained the slow move.

“I hear it’s kind of quiet right now,” Youngmisuk said. “There is no rush on an extension for Kawhi Leonard, and then Paul George will be eligible in September.”

The 2023 playoffs were when the Clippers needed Kawhi the most, and while he was brilliant against the Phoenix Suns, averaging 34.5 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 6.0 APG, 2.0 SPG, and 0.5 BPG, he could only play in two games and missed the rest of the series due to a knee injury.

Kawhi and George missed a sizeable chunk of games for the Clippers last season. While the latter missed the entirety of the playoffs after 56 games in the regular season, Kawhi suited up for 52 games only. This was one of the key reasons for the Clippers, as the lack of firepower saw them pummeled by the Suns in the playoffs.

After four seasons together and a lack of success, this may be the last chance for Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. They both have player options next summer, and if they don’t play in the NBA finals, chances are they might not play together on the Clippers after the 2023-24 season.

Can Kawhi and George deliver for the Clippers in the 2023-24 season? That’s the question on all Clippers fans’ minds.
