The Kyrie Irving trade sweepstakes lasted for about 2 days but saw a lot of action between interested teams and the Nets during that time.
While Irving has been dealt to the Dallas Mavericks, the team that saw their 2022 playoffs ruined by the Mavs, the Phoenix Suns were trying to trade for Irving with Chris Paul and Jae Crowder on the table.
While the Suns did offer one first-round pick along with the two players, they lost interest in the deal after the Nets responded by asking for three first-round picks for a half-season rental of Kyrie Irving.
The Nets were willing to send Kyrie Irving to the Suns for Chris Paul, Jae Crowder, and 3 (!!!) 1st-round picks, per @ShamsCharania.

Shams Charania gave the full details behind the conversations between the 2 teams.
Phoenix offered a package around Paul, Jae Crowder and one first-round pick, sources said. The offer was made within the first 18 hours of Irving’s trade request, and it’s believed that three first-round picks could have clinched a deal, multiple league sources said. However, the Suns never added those picks and failed to make a better offer, beginning to lose interest in a trade for Irving as time went on. (h/t The Athletic)
This further solidifies the recent belief that the Suns would move on from Chris Paul for the right upgrade and could make the end of this trade deadline exciting, as new owner Mat Ishbia is looking to make a splash to elevate the team to contention once again.
Is Chris Paul’s Time With The Suns Over?
Father Time has seemingly caught up to Chris Paul, as CP3 has taken a visible step back in production and efficiency this season. Crowder has been on the trade market all season long and is almost guaranteed to be moved this season, with the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat waiting with offers.
He is averaging 13.8 points, 8.6 assists, and 4.4 rebounds so far, but has helped the Suns become competitive recently after the team struggled due to Devin Booker going down with an injury. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games.
If there is an obvious upgrade available, like Kyrie Irving was, the Suns would be foolish to not try and pounce with their full asset of tradeable future picks. However, a player of that caliber is unlikely to appear two days before the deadline.
