The Portland Trail Blazers have a new mascot, ‘Douglas Fur’ — an eight-foot bigfoot who was introduced at the Moda Center on Wednesday. He joins Blaze, the trail cat, as the second mascot.

Per the Trail Blazers’ statement, the bigfoot was reported “too shy” to reveal himself. “Keeping himself hidden, Douglas has been living amongst the vast acres of Douglas fir trees in Forest Park and navigating over 80 miles of hiking trails while naturally blending in with other un-shaven local hikers and explorers camouflaged in true hipster outdoor attire,” the Blazers’ release said.

It should be noted that Douglas will be an additional mascot and not a replacement for Blaze, who has been the team’s face for more than 20 years. The duo is described as best buds.

Hopefully, Douglas proves to be a lucky charm for Portland. After their 123-107 loss to the New York Knicks, the team needs some good vibes and luck going their way.

Time Is Running Out For The Portland Trail Blazers

The loss to the Knicks sees the Blazers at 31-38 and placed 13th in the West. With 13 games left in the season, the team will need to put up wins for at least seven of their contests to keep their playoff hopes alive, especially in a stacked conference.

While Damian Lillard has been the man leading the charge this season with 32.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 7.3 assists, the team has been unable to get across the finish line.

He has been vocal about the team needing help. Earlier, he had a veiled message to the front office.

“That means we go into the offseason and we don’t come out the way we have in the past,” Lillard said, according to Sports Illustrated. “Where it’s like, ‘Oh, we’re going to try to do something,’ and then we watch other people capitalize on things that are out there, and we pass, pass, pass, pass and can’t get anything done and then it’s done.”

The Blazers face some stern tests heading into their next games as they take on better-placed teams in the LA Clippers, the Boston Celtics, and the Utah Jazz. A three-game win streak no matter how daunting it looks on paper will work wonders for the team.
