Rajon Rondo is one of the most reliable backup point guards one can have in the league. He is a great playmaker and is capable of running an offense. There’s no doubt that a lot of teams would love to have him as a depth option on their roster.

Shams Charania of The Athletic has recently reported that the Memphis Grizzlies and Rajon Rondo have agreed to a buyout of his contract. It looks as though Rajon Rondo will be becoming a free agent, giving him the opportunity to sign with a contending roster.

In addition to reporting the buyout itself, Shams Charania also stated that the Los Angeles Lakers are the favorites to sign him once he clears waivers. Rajon Rondo played crucial minutes during the Lakers’ championship run during 2020, and it looks as though he’ll return to the team to try and help them get another title.

There’s no doubt that Rajon Rondo coming back to the Los Angeles Lakers would be great for the team, and having another guard that can run an offense and make plays for others will certainly be helpful. While it doesn’t seem like Rajon Rondo to the Lakers isn’t actually official yet, it definitely looks as though it is only a matter of time.
