Bronny James isn’t expected to have a particularly high rating in the next installment of NBA 2K, considering he’s a second-round pick who barely got playing time for USC last season. But because of his last name, many fans want to know what his rating will be, as they can use it to defend or argue against him and his attempt to make it in the NBA.

Bronny has been the subject of intense scrutiny from fans and the media regarding his selection by the Lakers in the NBA Draft. Bronny was selected with the 55th pick by the Lakers, and many fans have speculated that his father, LeBron James, used his leverage within the Lakers organization to get his son drafted.

James isn’t being given any preferential treatment and is expected to play the majority of next season for the Lakers’ G-League team. But there have been a lot of debates about nepotism playing a massive part in the start of his NBA career.

Bronny and his agent, Rich Paul, didn’t do this discourse any favors, as they reportedly threatened other teams to not draft him, even going as far as to claim he would play abroad if picked by a team not named the Lakers.

But many fans and analysts have made presuppositions about Bronny before they have even seen how he will be used by the Lakers next year.

The Lakers Believe In Bronny James

One anonymous NBA executive actually defended the Lakers for drafting Bronny James, claiming that he didn’t get a fair chance at USC to show what he could do after his cardiac arrest, and that the Lakers see the right characteristics in him, which is why they used their second-round pick on him.

“You can’t really take much of anything from his season at USC. It was a dysfunctional team, and then he came in late with the protocols he had to go through. I mean, I don’t think that one year he had is an indication of who he was or what he is or certainly not what he can be.”

“The Lakers probably saw him working out and hanging around the team. They saw something good in him, so why not take him? A lot of people saw good things in him, but I think they were scared off.”

Bronny James spoke about playing in the G-League and gave a professional response about just focusing on basketball rather than the league he is playing in. From all accounts, James has shown humility and respect whenever speaking to the media and isn’t making any outrageous claims or demands because of who his father is.

James and Lakers head coach JJ Redick apparently have a plan for Bronny next season, which Redick explained in a recent interview. Bronny is clearly a prospect for the future and needs time to develop into the player everyone on the Lakers thinks he can be.
