LeBron James breaking the NBA’s all-time scoring record was the talk of the town right before the trade deadline madness began. Playing against the Oklahoma City Thunder, James crossed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record and the basketball world stopped to celebrate the moment. But one key individual had an unexpected reaction.

Anthony Davis has been LeBron James‘ co-star for a few seasons, and the two even won a championship together. However, when the time for LeBron James’ big moment came, Davis wasn’t on the court. In fact, not only was he not on the court, but he wasn’t celebrating, with a video of him sitting down on the bench catching the eye of fans everywhere.

Davis is the key for the Lakers, and staying happy is extremely important for LeBron James if he’s hoping to win more championships soon. So naturally, when fans saw this, there was a lot of speculation about what this signifies for the Lakers and whether they have something to worry about. While some people think it means everything, others have gone as far as to suggest that it is nothing.

Shannon Sharpe On Why Anthony Davis Didn’t Celebrate LeBron James’ Record

Shannon Sharpe has now certified himself as a Lakers superfan. He’s beefing with opposition players on the sidelines, dipping up LeBron James after the games, and overall just someone that many consider being tight with the Lakers. And he gave his thoughts on why Davis didn’t celebrate.

“I’m trying not to read too much into it. I think he was frustrated. He picked up his 4th foul with 58 seconds and he was immediately subbed. A few seconds later what happened? LeBron hit the shot. And he’s one of LeBron’s best friends… They have their celebration right before the game, they sit next to each other on the bench, and they constantly communicate.

“And I’m thinking AD’s thinking like, ‘Bruh, my brother did this and I’m on the sidelines. I’m not there. I should have been the first player to greet him and say congratulations, bruh. Congratulations big bro, I’m proud of you. Congratulations on everything that you’ve done.’ That’s the only thing I can think of.”

There seems to be no doubt that Anthony Davis was upset about something, but the way Sharpe portrays it is a lovely way of looking at it. For Lakers fans, they will be hoping that’s all it is too. But even if Anthony Davis wasn’t in a good mood for a reason less positive than that, it’s easy to see that he’ll feel better now that the Lakers got him and LeBron some help as well.
