Anthony Davis is widely considered to be among the best big men in the league when he is healthy. He dominates on both ends of the floor. Talent has never been the issue for Anthony Davis: rather, most people are critical of the star’s durability.

Superstar LeBron James’ recent injury means that Anthony Davis will have to step up and keep the team afloat while he is out. Recently, Shaquille O’Neal has offered some criticism of Anthony Davis, saying that the superstar “fell off,” adding that he’s going to need to “take it to another level” to make the playoffs.

“He’s going to have to tap into that playoff well,” said O’Neal. “Players like us… play a certain style, playoffs we take it to another level… I don’t want to say this disrespectfully, but he fell off. Not saying he’s not a great player… Three years ago we were heralding him as the next great player in the NBA.”

There’s no doubt that Anthony Davis will need to play like the dominant big man he is for the Los Angeles Lakers to make the playoffs this year. Hopefully, we see him rise up to the challenge.

Currently, Anthony Davis is averaging 25.7 PPG, 12.4 RPG, and 2.0 BPG for the Los Angeles Lakers, and if he was more available, he’d be in consideration for the All-NBA teams at the end of the season. The ultimate goal for Anthony Davis is the championship, however.

The Lakers Can Still Get To The Playoffs If Anthony Davis Stays Healthy

The Los Angeles Lakers superstars are on the older side, and as such, the key for them is simply being healthy. Previously, Michael Cooper suggested that the Lakers can still get to the postseason if Anthony Davis remains healthy.

“All of this is predicated on the health of the Lakers,” said Cooper. “LeBron suffered an injury last night, Anthony Davis has to stay healthy. If the Lakers can stay healthy and these young men start to gel even better, I don’t care what the top 6 teams are, I am going to be scared to play the Lakers. The Lakers are not a team you want to see in a 5 or 7-game series because they are getting better. It all depends on the health of the Lakers, if they get into the playoffs healthy, they could challenge for a championship.”

It will be interesting to see how the Los Angeles Lakers will do for the rest of the season. They have the talent to stay afloat without LeBron James, but they have also been inconsistent throughout the whole season.

Anthony Davis needs to ensure that the Los Angeles Lakers make the playoffs by being the best player in every game that they play. He played at an MVP level earlier in the season, and now he needs to do it once again.
