  • Chicago has seen an increasing number of crime rates in the country
  • There is no concrete explanation about where the teens acquired guns
  • The NBA has been strict about gun incidents

Gun violence has been one of the rising concerns in the US, and in what comes as disturbing news, a group of young men was seen showing off the firearms they brought to an indoor court in Chicago.

It’s unclear at this time as to how they managed to get their hands on guns, but in a video doing the rounds on social media, they could be seen talking about how the guns added to their swagger. Here’s a look at the 29-second clip:

Editorializing a bit, it’s horrible to see the state the country has come to. Especially with the string of deaths that has seen a rise in Chicago.

Per the New York Post, “Chicago saw fewer murders — at 695 — last year than in 2021, when the city saw 804, according to Chicago police crime stats. Still, the 2022 murder rate is higher than the pre-COVID rate in 2019.”

And when the teens flashing guns are seen, it’s all the more worrisome about how their lives will unfold. Hopefully, the authorities notice this and see what can be done to curb such disturbing incidents in the future.

The NBA Is Leaving No Stone Unturned When It Comes To Gun Incidents

The NBA and Ja Morant were the talking point earlier this season after the Memphis Grizzlies guard was found flashing his gun for the second time on social media.

This saw the league crackdown on the player, suspending him for 25 games in the upcoming season. While the number might seem less, the ramifications — on the floor and financially for Morant are quite severe. Morant’s punishment will also serve as a stern warning to players to be wary of the result in the aftermath of such activities

This suspension will ensure Morant won’t be eligible for All-NBA next season, with a new 65-games-played limit being placed on stars.

It is good to see the NBA take stringent measures, and circling back to the aforementioned story, hopefully, there will also be enough steps taken by the authorities to curb the rising crime rate in Windy City.
