The Washington Wizards traded away Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers earlier during the free agency period, and that left them with a hole at the point guard position. Luckily for them, it looks as though they have found a replacement.
Spencer Dinwiddie will be headed to the Washington Wizards on a 3-year $62 million deal. Shams Charania reported that the deal was a sign-and-trade, as the Washington Wizards did not have the cap space to outright sign the guard to a new contract. The 76ers will be sending out a pick and a pick swap to make accommodate the Brooklyn Nets for helping out with the transaction.

The Washington Wizards will have a solid supporting cast around Bradley Beal with this trade, and this trade gives them a solid secondary scorer. On the Brooklyn Nets, Spencer Dinwiddie would likely be a bench player behind Kyrie Irving and James Harden, but now, he gets an opportunity to show what he can do as a starter.
There is no question that this move will help the Washington Wizards get better, and give them a solid two-way guard who can create his own shot. Only time will tell how far they get next season, though it seems as if the franchise is committed to trying to win.
