Stephen Curry was the star of the show as the Golden State Warriors beat the Phoenix Suns 113-112 on Saturday night. Curry hit an insane game-winner in the dying moments of the contest, as he sank a 29-foot three-pointer with 0.7 seconds left on the clock. As he walked back to the locker room, the 35-year-old spoke on that shot.

“About time I hit a shot that actually got us a win,” Curry said. “Had a couple that didn’t go our way, so we needed this one. Keep the momentum going, big win. Get another one.”

You can watch that incredible shot below.

Rookie Brandin Podziemski’s inbounds pass wasn’t a great one by any means, but Curry still managed to sink it. With that shot, the 10-time All-Star ended the night with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 steal, and fortunately for him, the Warriors held on to get the win this time around.

It was just a few weeks ago that Curry had hit a deep three-pointer in the closing stages of a wild double-overtime game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Golden State then fouled LeBron James on the final play, and James sank both free throws to get the Lakers the win.

Here, Devin Booker was fouled on the next play by Andrew Wiggins, but the Warriors had a foul to give. On the final possession, Golden State defended exceptionally well, as Kevin Durant failed to even get a shot off. With this result, the Warriors improved to 25-25 on the season, and they have now won six of their last seven games.

As for the Suns, this loss snapped their three-game winning streak and dropped them to 31-22 on the season. It had seemed like Booker, who had 32 points on the night, had led them to victory by scoring 12 points in the final four minutes of the fourth quarter, but then Curry happened.

Stephen Curry Has Been Incredible In The Clutch In 2023-24

Curry is undoubtedly the greatest shooter we have ever seen, but he developed a bit of a reputation for not being a very clutch player. His performances in the clutch in this 2023-24 season have dispelled that notion, as he has been spectacular in the decisive moments.

“Steph Curry in the clutch this season:

• 1st in Points

• 1st in Field Goals Made

• 1st in Three-Pointers Made

• 8th in Free Throw Attempts

You could take away all his free throws and he’d still have the most clutch points.”

That is simply phenomenal on Curry’s part. He deserves a lot of respect for the fact that he continues to play at such a high level at this stage of his career. The two-time MVP is now averaging 28.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game in this campaign.

Curry has now helped the Warriors get back to .500 on the season with his heroics. With Jonathan Kuminga shining as the second option on offense next to Curry, and with Draymond Green excelling on defense, there is suddenly some hope that the season might not be lost after all.

While I think Golden State will make the playoffs, I just don’t see them being serious contenders this season. Maybe if they had acquired a good piece at the trade deadline, they might have had a shot at competing for the title.
