The Golden State Warriors came away with a much-needed win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night, but the Andrew Wiggins cloud continues to hang over this team.

Wiggins remains away from the team due to personal reasons and Stephen Curry was asked about his teammate’s status after the win.

“Same as it’s always been,” Curry said. “We’d love to have him and hope that that does happen. We want to be whole and I’m sure he wants to be a part of this. But when he walks through the door will be when it’s the right time for him. That’s kind of the expectation at this point, so nothing’s really changed.”

Curry hasn’t been in touch regularly with Wiggins as he wants to give him some space. It clearly seems to be a very serious issue and his teammates as well as the organization, want him to take as much time as he needs

It’s on the rest of the players to make up for his absence and Curry did that against the Pelicans, finishing with 39 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals. Wiggins has not been ruled out for the season, but it would appear at this point, that he’ll probably only return during the playoffs, as there are just six games left in the regular season for Golden State.

Steve Kerr Said Andrew Wiggins Has Been Working Out

Wiggins has now missed the last 20 games and he last played for the Warriors on the 13th of February against the Washington Wizards. That is quite a long time away from the game, but Wiggins has been working out daily, as per head coach Steve Kerr. He added they wouldn’t know about his game conditioning until he returns but he is doing his part to make sure it won’t take him too long to get onto the court when he does come back.

Wiggins had been averaging 17.1 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 2.3 APG, and 1.2 SPG this season before stepping away. He was their second-best player during the title run last season and the Warriors will need him back if they are to defend their crown.
