The Golden State Warriors are the 5th seed in the Western Conference but sit just 1 game outside the play-in spot. With the regular season ending in just a few games, the team looks like it’ll make the playoffs. This will give them a shot at possibly winning the NBA championship again, and their superstar, Stephen Curry, seems to think they can do it.
“This year we’ve had guys in a lot of different roles, some newcomers,” Curry said on Steiny and Guru. “For us to be the champs and have to take everybody’s best shot all year, some self-inflicted wounds that we’ve had, games we should have won.
“With all that said, absolutely (we can make a run). I feel like we are a team that’s a force and when we’re locked in on the specific test of trying to beat a team four times in a playoff series – obviously we need to get there and finish this year strong and hopefully stay out of the play-in – that remains the same.”
The Golden State Warriors ran through the postseason without losing more than 2 games in any series last year, beating teams like the Grizzlies, Mavericks, and Celtics on their way to the championship. This season promises to be different, the Phoenix Suns, who are the 4th seed, have Kevin Durant, while the team will also have to get through a healthy Denver Nuggets side.
The Golden State Warriors Playoff Record Is On A Different Level
Since they won their first NBA championship in the Stephen Curry era in 2015, the team has yet to lose a playoff series outside the Finals. They missed the playoffs in the 2019-20 season and the 2020-21 season, but apart from those two blips, the Warriors have only ever lost in the NBA Finals.
They have been through a turbulent season, their road record has been horrific, Having said that, the Warriors have the experience and the pedigree to get right back to the championship. The team has won 5 of their last 6 games and is peaking at the right time, and nobody would bet against Stephen Curry in a playoff series.
The Warriors’ dynasty might be coming to an end soon, although Steve Kerr has been insistent that this is not their ‘Last Dance.’ If the team can get over their inconsistent regular season and win another championship though, it would take Stephen Curry’s legacy to another level entirely.
