In a recent chat with the NBA media, former NBA big man Stephen Jackson went off on Austin Rivers for some recent comments he made on LeBron’s son, Bronny James. In a passionate and heated response, Jackson pointed out the difference between Bronny and Rivers, calling the former point guard a “scrub” for his take.

“And your daddy not LeBron. Shut up,” said Jackson. “Difference is you trash, Bronny not! You can’t compare to him scrub.”

It’s bold of Jackson to say something like this when Bronny has yet to play a single game in the NBA. In fact, based on scouting reports this season, Brony might not even be a first-round pick this summer, whereas Rivers was picked 10th back in 2012. But what was it that got Jackson so upset? Apparently, it’s what Rivers said earlier about not wanting to see Bronny play with his dad: “Him getting drafted and playing with his dad, at this point in his career because his success is not at the top-tier level, I don’t want that negativity to come his way. He doesn’t deserve it.”

Whether you love or hate Bronny, it’s easy to admit that he’s among the most intriguing prospects for the 2024 Draft class. Besides great instincts and an expert understanding of the game, Bronny provides solid shooting, capable playmaking, and an intense work ethic to any locker room. For the USC Trojans this season, he’s averaging a modest 5.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game on 37.2% shooting. Currently, Bronny is projected to be a late first-round pick but expectations couldn’t be higher for the young star as the heir to LeBron’s basketball empire.

Bronny Is On A Collision Course With LeBron James

While some experts believe another year or two of college would serve Bronny well, especially after his health scare over the summer, he’s almost sure to make the jump to the NBA  as soon as possible. While there is still uncertainty on where Bronny will get drafted, we know there’s a good chance that his father will join him to form the first-ever father-son duo in NBA history.

In preparation for the partnership, LeBron set himself up to join free agency this summer and the goal is to follow his son to whatever team picks him up with their pick. Whether or not James’ locker room influence will be a positive one for his son remains to be seen, but it’s already become one of the most controversial topics in the NBA. because despite what LeBron wants, it may not be in Bronny’s best interest to be an NBA teammate with his parent. When he eventually does make the league, the expectations will be higher than ever and it’s going to take a lot to fill his father’s shoes. Nevertheless, Bronny has taken everything in stride so far and he’s been unphased by the attention that his family name has attracted for the past two decades now. Despite not playing a single NBA game, Bronny James already has plenty of defenders, and guys like Stephen Jackson are going to check anyone who speaks out on him before he’s had a chance to prove himself.
