• Former Phoenix Suns GM Steve Kerr initially thought Stephen Curry was similar to Steve Nash
• Kerr and the Suns weren’t concerned about Curry’s size like most of the other scouts
• Stephen Curry once said he modeled his game after Steve Nash, and wouldn’t mind giving one of his rings to the Suns legend
Coming into the NBA, Stephen Curry wasn’t expected to become the superstar that he has become today, but there were still a few teams that had an idea about him.
Steve Kerr, who was the general manager of the Phoenix Suns at the time, believed Stephen Curry showed similarities to Steve Nash. Kerr made the revelation in a recent interview with Nick Hauselman of ‘BBALLBREAKDOWN.’
“We watched him carefully,” Kerr said. “I remember seeing him for the first time at UCLA against Davidson in Anaheim at the John Wooden Classic. He reminded us a lot of Steve Nash, so we weren’t as concerned about his size as a lot of scouts were. I don’t anybody could have predicted what he actually became. We thought he had a chance to be really good.”

There’s no doubt that Stephen Curry was severely underrated when he was drafted into the NBA by the Warriors, using the ninth overall pick in 2009. In fact, most of the predictions about him turned out to be false.
The Suns had the 14th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, which they used to draft Earl Clark. While Kerr missed out on drafting Curry, he has been coaching him since 2015. Kerr and Curry have won four NBA Championships together as they remain one of the best player-coach duos in the league.
Stephen Curry On Which Ringless Players He Would Give One Of His Rings To
After it’s all said and done, Stephen Curry will go down as one of the best players to ever play in the NBA. As of now, he has four rings, but he still has a chance to add more to his resume.
Speaking of his rings, Curry recently revealed that he wouldn’t mind giving one of his rings to either Steve Nash or Reggie Miller.
It’s no surprise since Curry previously claimed that he shaped his game after the two NBA legends. While Kerr thought of Curry was similar to Nash, the comparisons between the two players ended at their height. Nash was 6’3″, while Curry is 6’2″, but their playing styles are very different.
