Imagine being a kid and witnessing LeBron James, of all people, paying a surprise visit to your school. Well, students of LeBron’s ‘I Promise School’ got that surprise when James visited House Three Thirty on Tuesday. To say the kids were excited would be an understatement and once they calmed down, James had some words for them.
“The only reason I’m here is because of you guys,” James said. “Third to the fifth graders, you guys give me so much inspiration on a day-to-day basis. No matter if I’m here in Akron, no matter if I’m traveling the world, no matter if I’m in Los Angeles, I think about you guys every single day.”
“Everywhere I go in the world, I’m always representing you guys,” James continued. “I’m always talking about you guys, I’m always praying about you guys… The world does not exist and evolve without you guys and your inspiration.”
Those words would certainly mean a lot to those kids. IPS, a public elementary school operated by Akron Public Schools, was opened back in 2018. It is supported by the LeBron James Family Foundation and the aim of the school has been to assist at-risk children.
Students were given uniforms, breakfast, lunch, and snacks for free when it opened. The lives of many in the area have improved thanks to this initiative and I applaud LeBron for taking that step.
James has made such surprise visits to the school in the past as well and it’s great to see just how much joy he brings to the faces of all the kids. At present, over 300 students are enrolled in grades three through eight.
LeBron James Attended Game 4 Between The Cavaliers And Celtics The Day Before
The day before LeBron visited the school, he sat courtside for Game 4 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. He was greeted joyfully at both places, as James received a standing ovation from Cavaliers fans.
What was a bit different, though, was that his attending the game drew some scrutiny. NBA executives are reportedly curious about LeBron’s visit to Cleveland. Could he potentially leave the Los Angeles Lakers and return back home?
I don’t see that happening as of now, but I suppose never say never. What we do know, for sure, is that the Cavaliers fans would certainly welcome him back with open arms if he does choose to return.
