Center Deandre Ayton is well-known for being the starting center of the Phoenix Suns, and many people hold him in high regard due to his interior scoring and athletic ability.

Despite his talent, it is quite possible that the Phoenix Suns will move on from Deandre Ayton. In fact, a recent report from Sean Deveney of Heavy revealed that the team is confident that they’ll be able to trade him.

“There are teams that will come calling for him,” one NBA GM said. “The Suns know that. He is on the backburner but they’re ready to move him as soon as the right thing comes along. And at this point, if they can get a couple of really solid role players, that will be the right thing for them. That might not happen until we get into Summer League, though.”

At this point, it makes sense to move Deandre Ayton for quality depth. The Phoenix Suns already have their big three after the Bradley Beal trade, and they should address the weaknesses on their roster.

This season, Deandre Ayton averaged 18.0 PPG, 10.0 RPG, and 1.7 APG for the Phoenix Suns. There is no doubt that he still has some untapped potential, and with a bigger role, he would truly get a chance to show his talent.

The Trail Blazers Could Trade For Deandre Ayton

Deandre Ayton could definitely be an appealing option for many teams in the league. Some previous reports revealed that the Trail Blazers may be a team that could target Ayton.

“The Trail Blazers have also had an interest in trading for Deandre Ayton of the Phoenix Suns in the past,” Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reported. “It’s unclear if acquiring Ayton could be a part of a deal that sees Portland move on from other players. The Blazers are considering trading Anfernee Simons and the third overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.”

Jusuf Nurkic is a solid veteran, but it is clear that replacing him with Deandre Ayton would increase the team’s ceiling. Hopefully, we see that happen, but the Trail Blazers have other options as well.
