Terry Rozier Could Be A Part Of The Russell Westbrook Trade
The Los Angeles Lakers and Russell Westbrook may be linked to Kyrie Irving, but there have been talks about swapping the explosive guard with Charlotte Hornets' Terry Rozier.
Westbrook has been linked to multiple teams as the trade deadline approaches. He's come up in trade discussions with the Utah Jazz as well. Prior to that, it was the Chicago Bulls.
Per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Lakers are reportedly considering swapping the 34-year-old for Rozier.
Rob Pelinka’s front office has continued dialogue with rival teams about trading Russell Westbrook, most notably conversations with the Jazz as reported by Bleacher Report. Charlotte, with guard Terry Rozier, remains another possible trade partner for Westbrook, sources said.
This development makes it LA's third attempt to acquire the guard since the offseason. Previously, it was a deal where they were involved in talks during the Donovan Mitchell trade. Next up, it was during October that they made a beeline for him again.
Rozier has been averaging 21.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists for the Hornets. His volume shooting and his ability to find buckets make him a valuable addition to the side that's looking for help on the offensive front.
Will The Los Angeles Lakers Consider Trading Russell Westbrook To The Brooklyn Nets?
The Lakers will have Westbrook, and their future picks on the table when talking to the Nets about trading for Kyrie Irving. The team has been linked heavily to the guard after he requested a trade, and chances are that they would gun for the 30-year-old.
The Athletic's Jovan Buha also outlined the framework saying Westbrook and the picks would be the way to go for the Lakers. But with Irving coming in with a staggering asking price, the team is reportedly hesitant to offer him a long-term deal.
With the trade deadline looming, there's no telling whether it's Irving or Rozier who will suit up for LA, but one thing is for sure, a Westbrook trade is likely to happen as the team stakes its claim for a playoff berth.
