By the looks of it, Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young could find a new home in the summer.

The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor reported that the team’s think-tank has reportedly given their front office the green signal to look at trade options involving the guard.

“With the offseason approaching, league sources say the Hawks’ front office has the green light from ownership to do whatever it wants to with the roster, which includes considering trade opportunities involving All-Star point guard Trae Young,” the report read.

The development comes on the back of Atlanta clinching a play-in chance after they ended their regular season with a 41-41 record in the East. Off the court, it’s been a turbulent season for the team that was plagued with locker room issues.

It was a drama-filled 82-game run that saw the ouster of head coach Nate McMillan and replaced with Quin Snyder. And amid all of this was Young’s soured relationship with the team. It all depends on how the Hawks fare in the play-in clash, and only time will tell if that’s the last game Young suits up for Atlanta.

Trae Young Isn’t Reportedly Loved In Atlanta

In related news, Trae Young isn’t apparently the most-loved personality in Atlanta. Bill Reiter of CBS Sports outlined the tattered state of the Hawks Young’s role in what has been a dismal run for the unit.

“Starting with the locker room, it’s no secret there’s a serious disconnect between Young, the team’s star player, and many — though some say nearly all — of his teammates,” he wrote.

“He is not beloved, sources say, and there’s a strong view that Young fails to lead, to understand or care to understand what is required of him, and that as a result, the team will never achieve what it should until that reality is fixed.”

And Reiter pretty much hit the nail on the head. The Hawks have huffed and puffed their way into the play-in this season and face a stern test in the form of the Miami Heat, who are placed seventh.

Only time will tell if the Hawks can make the postseason. But for now, it appears that Young’s time with the side is coming to an end.
