The Knicks Reportedly Spoke To The Bulls About Trading For Zach LaVine But The Asking Price Was Too Big

Zach LaVine is an elite shooting guard in the modern NBA, and he's earned two All-Star appearances with his brilliance. However, he hasn't been able to lead the Chicago Bulls to playoff success, and that has made him a prime target for trade speculation.

The New York Knicks are a piece away from being a legitimate threat and have been linked with a move for Karl-Anthony Towns. According to reports, though, the Knicks also made contact with the Bulls over LaVine, only to be turned off by the giant asking price.

"New York made contact with the Chicago Bulls about their shooting guard, Zach LaVine, but the asking price for the two-time All-Star was 'giant,' as one league source told The Athletic, which is exactly why LaVine remains in Chicago. The Knicks and Bulls, according to league sources, never got close," The Athletic reported

Zach LaVine is 28 and has just entered his prime. He has shown the ability to average over 27 points per game in the NBA, making him an ideal piece for top teams that need another scoring threat to become a contender. He averaged 24.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game last season and is under contract till 2027. No wonder the asking price for him is astronomical.

Zach LaVine Doesn't Think He'll Be Traded By The Chicago Bulls Anytime Soon

Zach LaVine on the Knicks in a backcourt next to Jalen Brunson sounds lethal, and the Knicks surely have the assets to pull a move off too. It could be something to watch even if initial talks have proved to be fruitless. It should be noted, though, that LaVine himself doesn't expect to be traded by the Bulls 'anytime soon.'

"I don't see anything happening anytime soon. But if it does, Chicago always has my love," LaVine said.

The Knicks are far from the only team that could use his services, LaVine is a hot commodity across the NBA. Any contending team could use him, a potential trade to the Pelicans might also work. But without knowing what the exact asking price Chicago has put on him is, it's hard to say where he will end up. In any case, it wouldn't be surprising to see him suit up as a Bull again in the 2023-24 season.
