The Master Plan Of The Philadelphia Sixers: The Super Team 2018

The Philadelphia 76ers just surprised everybody in the world this year, by climbing all the way up to the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference with a 50+ win campaign just a couple of seasons after they won 10 games all year long.

Everybody’s high on the process right now, and even though they couldn’t put the icing on top of the cake with an Eastern Conference Finals appearance, the future looks quite bright for Philadelphia.

Their young core of Simmons, Embiid and Fultz looks like it’s going to be one for the ages, and the city of Brotherly Love is on the verge of a dynasty on the making, but it’s been quite clear that they need to land some top-notch free agents in order to take the next step.

With several top-tier names up for grabs during the summer, the Sixers could make a run at one or two of them, creating a major superteam that would instantly make them the frontrunners to take the East for assault.

According to Nico Martinez (Fadeaway World):

This upcoming summer has been made famous for it’s super-rich Free agent class… with just about every big-market team having enough cap space to offer some big contracts. But when it comes to free-agency, one name will top the list this July: LeBron James.

With the likelihood supposedly higher than its ever been, LeBron may very well be poised for a departure from the Cavs. And while multiple teams will be on his trail, the 76ers in particular are said to be making a hard run at him.

Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported the Sixers are “prepared to do whatever it takes” to sign James.

Today, we’re going to let you know what kind of superteam they could create during the summer, but in order to do that, they won’t be able to resign JJ Redick, Amir Johnson or Trevor Booker.

3. Paul George

Paul George could be a major addition for this squad after he proved he could consistently be a lockdown defender as well as being the prolific scorer we all knew he is, and he would have a much easier path to the NBA Finals if he came back to the East.

Simmons is a much more unselfish player than Russell Westbrook, and Embiid is extremely strong in the post, opening up a lot of space for George’s drives and long-range shooting, so his numbers should be even better than they were in OKC.

2. Kawhi Leonard

Kawhi Leonard is most likely headed out the door at San Antonio, as the relationship between both parties seems broke beyond repair, and the Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly keen to make a run at him during the Draft night, per several reports.

In order to land him, the Sixers could send the 2018 first round pick the Lakers owe him (10th pick), as well as Dario Saric and Robert Covington, two tailor-made 3 and D players that would thrive under Popovich’s system.

LeBron James would be the cherry on top of the sundae for the Process. Philly fans have already started a pitch to lure the King to the city and they’ve made a very strong impression after torching the Cavs in the regular season, proving that they’re more than ready to compete.

If they manage to get Leonard and George, it would be a no-brainer decision for King James, who would definitely keep his ECF streak alive. Also, who on earth could go against a lineup of Ben Simmons, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, LeBron James and Joel Embiid with Markelle Fultz leading the way off the bench?
