The Brooklyn Nets are the team everybody’s talking about around the NBA right now, as they added to huge pieces in Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge and look like the team to beat out of the Eastern Conference.
But if adding two former All-Stars wasn’t enough, it seems like they were also trying to add more depth at the wings, as they reportedly offered injured guard Spencer Dinwiddie in return for Golden State Warriors’ Kelly Oubre Jr:
“Among the options they explored, I’m told, was sending Dinwiddie to Golden State for Kelly Oubre. Golden State rejected those overtures because it is still desperate to make the playoffs. While numerous Oubre trade scenarios came up, Golden State was not going to trade him for someone who couldn’t help the team in the short term,” Marc Stein of The New York Times reported.

Oubre Jr struggled mightily to adapt to Steve Kerr’s system. His shot wasn’t falling at the beginning of the season and he was a trade candidate for months. However, Warriors’ GM Bob Myers claims that the team values him too much and that’s why they didn’t move him:

Truth be told, the Warriors could’ve used some help in the trade deadline. Then again, Dinwiddie is unlikely to play again this season and Oubre Jr has finally turned the corner. He’s a valuable defender and athletic scorer that only needs more time to get going again.
As for the Nets, it seems like they’re not done making moves just yet, and they’ll reportedly be active in the buyout market to add another wing.
