The Truth About Jimmy Butler’s Performance In His Infamous Timberwolves Practice Tirade

2 Min Read

All of the drama surrounding the Minnesota Timberwolves came to a head when reports leaked details about a seemingly very hostile Timberwolves practice session. It was there, sources said, that Butler dominated in every way, calling out player and coaches in a very loud and direct “You can’t win without me,” as he continued to send his message to a team that desperately needed some urgency. It was a very toxic environment and was probably the final nail in the coffin of his days in Minnesota.

Apparently, not all of the details were right.

In a quote by the man himself, the most interesting part of the whole thing was never revealed.

“The crazy part is, the most interesting detail wasn’t told,” said Butler on the J.J. Reddick podcast. “The most interesting detail of that whole scrimmage that nobody knows. I only shot the ball once. I only shot the ball one time.”

So, then, what exactly was so “dominant” about Butler’s performance that day?

“Oh, I was dominating, but I only shot the ball once,” Butler admitted. “Dimes — boom, boom, boom. Steals, blocks. I only shot the ball one time.”

To dominate a scrimmage without scoring? That takes some well-rounded skill.

It’s that skill, that makes Butler os valuable as a player. He might not be getting buckets all the time, but you can be sure he’s making a difference on the court one way or another.
