In a recent appearance on SHOWTIME with Rachel Nichols, NBA Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady joined Paul Pierce on set to talk about a number of topics ranging from basketball to life itself. Among the many conversations was one about picking two NBA legends to square off in an epic one-on-one showdown.

McGrady answered with Kyrie Irving and Devin Booker before Pierce went off the rails by choosing Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green, two players who are notorious for their competitive and no-nonsense approach to the game. With just a few seconds to ponder the idea of a Butler and Draymond matchup, McGrady replied with the thoughts everybody was thinking.

Tracy McGrady: “I would love to see Kyrie and Devin Booker.”

Paul Pierce: “Imma go like Jimmy Butler and Draymond. That’s real street ball right there.”

T-Mac: “They ain’t gonna finish the game….”

Who would @paulpierce34 and @tmac_213 want to see play 1-on-1 in today's NBA?

Green and Butler don’t have any kind of beef (at least, not publicly), but the level of aggression those guys play with is bound to start some kind of problem…of course, that’s why it would make for such a good viewing experience for the fans.

Sadly, it’s unlikely that we’ll ever get to see players at this level go all-out for a one-on-one matchup, but fans have suggested it as a potential event for All-Star weekend.

Could The NBA Add One Vs One Tournament To All-Star Festivities?

One way the league could capitalize on the desire for one-man matchups is by having a tournament on All-Star weekend between some of the NBA’s top performers. It’s obviously a dream scenario more than anything else, but it would be a good solution to spice up the All-Star event.

As for what matchups would get fans the most excited, a game between Jokic and Embiid or Steph vs Kyrie is at the top of the wish list, but you can’t deny how entertaining a Draymond vs Butler game would be. Anytime two roughriders and high-level competitors clash, it usually makes for an epic show.
