The Utah Jazz have had a very active offseason as they changed the landscape of their franchise in over 2 months. The All-Star duo of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert that they had cultivated were traded away, with Gobert moving to the Minnesota Timberwolves in June and Mitchell being moved to the Cleveland Cavaliers yesterday.

The Jazz have received a massive haul of picks and players for their 2 stars that could make a lineup in on itself. Players that the Jazz have acquired through those trades include Leandro Bolmaro, Jarred Vanderbilt, Malik Beasley, Stanley Johnson, Talen Horton-Tucker, Walker Kessler, Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, and Ochai Agbaji. They also received 10 first-round picks for Gobert and Mitchell, setting the team up perfectly for the future.
With a rebuild in mind, the Utah Jazz have a roster full of players they could still move for good value. All the different players on the roster makes many lineup combinations possible for rookie head coach Will Hardy to experiment with and find the best players for Utah’s long-term future, while hoping to hit big in the 2023 Draft.

Will The Jazz Remain Competitive In The Western Conference?
The Utah Jazz don’t look like a team of losers just yet. They have playoff veterans like Jordan Clarkson, Mike Conley, and Bojan Bogdanovic still on the team, which would raise their floor above some of the other rebuilding teams around the league. If the Jazz keep this roster intact, Clarkson and Bogdanovic can help them continue their winning ways around this new group.
It is hard to be competitive in the Western Conference, and it doesn’t look like Utah can do that, even if they keep Clarkson, Conley, and Bogdanovic. While they will definitely add some more wins by virtue of their talent, there are way too many new players coming into the team for everyone to have the right chemistry from the jump.
Collin Sexton will likely be the star of the team and end up putting up big stats on the Jazz. There will be hopes that Talen Horton-Tucker can speed his development up in Utah with more opportunities available to him in this system rather than learning to be the perfect role player for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Lauri Markkanen doesn’t need to be an out-of-position small forward anymore and could move to a more natural position as a small-ball center or a power forward. With Jarred Vanderbilt’s defensive presence and Markkanen’s offensive touch, the pair could form a nice frontcourt pairing.
The young talent that the Jazz have acquired will entice them the most. Walker Kessler and Ochai Agbaji can develop in the way Will Hardy wants them to, which will ease their transition into the NBA. Both players weren’t extremely high-rated prospects but have a lot of room to grow. The same can be said for players like Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Leandro Bolmaro, and Simone Fontecchio.
