Kobe Bryant, in the later years of his career, got the opportunity to play with and against the next generation of the NBA. Bryant embraced this opportunity, as he was able to serve as a mentor for the upcoming generation. One player who got to learn under Kobe was Anthony Davis, but learning is not all he got to do.

During a practice session, while they were both together with Team USA ahead of the 2012 Olympics, Anthony Davis was joking around while wearing sunglasses. Kobe Bryant was laughing in the background before jokingly remarking that he should wear sunglasses to cover his unibrow. Both players shared a laugh, so they were clearly having fun.

Bryant and AD experienced success together, as Kobe and Team USA won Gold Medal. Bryant and Davis would play against each other, but neither player was in their prime. Kobe was in the later years of his career, and Davis was just starting out in the NBA having been drafted in 2012.

Kobe Bryant Was A Supporter Of Anthony Davis

Kobe Bryant was a big fan of Anthony Davis. And after retiring from the NBA, Davis would sing the praises of Anthony Davis, as he would end up becoming a superstar in the NBA. When the rumors of Davis being a potential trade target for the Los Angeles Lakers emerged, Kobe boldly declared that AD was better than other players on the team and that they should trade for him.

Davis was pivotal to the Lakers in the 2019-20 NBA season, helping them win their first NBA championship since Kobe Bryant. And one of his greatest moments in a Lakers jersey was when he scored the game-winner against the Denver Nuggets in the 2020 Western Conference Finals. What made this even more perfect was that Davis and the Lakers were wearing their Black Mamba jerseys in tribute to Kobe.

Davis has become a centerpiece for the Lakers and will be hoping to carry Kobe’s legacy forward by bringing more championships to the Lakers in the coming years.
