Former NBA star-turned-analyst Kendrick Perkins slammed Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone after the team’s Game 2 loss against the Miami Heat on Sunday.

Speaking on First Take, Perkins said, “Michael Malone is calling out his team, but who’s calling out Michael Malone?… How about utilizing him [Michael Porter Jr] being 6’10?…While Mike Malone is out here calling out his team, he needs to look himself in the mirror as well…Michael Malone I get it, effort is one thing, but I didn’t see too many things Michael Malone did…”

Perkins felt that Malone’s criticism of his players was unwarranted when he was tactically out bested by Miami coach, Erik Spoelstra. By bringing in Kevin Love, the focus was on stopping Jamal Murray’s offensive prowess, and that worked in the Heat’s favor.

With Game 3 set to be played in Miami, all eyes will be on Malone who will hope that he and the Nuggets can get back to winning ways.

Skip Bayless The Heat Will Pip The Nuggets in Six Games

Soon after their Game 2 loss, the Nuggets were given another warning gong — this time from underfire NBA analyst Skip Bayless who said the Heat would beat the Nuggets in six games.

“Well shut my mouth. The Heat did it again. When nobody gave ’em a shot, as 9-point ‘dogs vs a Denver that had not lost a playoff home game, they hung in and then outshot the Nuggets in the 4th quarter. IT’S 1-1 GOING BACK TO MIAMI.”

“Heat in 6.”

That said, it’s not the end for the Nuggets just yet. With their relentless offense, they are still a formidable threat, and after the Game 2 loss, they will be eager to power their way to a win in Miami. Only time will tell if they can get past the red-hot Heat outfit.
