Over the last 10 years or so, the Los Angeles Clippers have slowly but surely become a better team in the NBA. During the same time span, the Los Angeles Lakers have been going through a bad spell.

So much so that the Clippers have won the majority of their games against the Lakers in the last decade. Ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season, the Clippers arguably have one of the deepest rosters in the league and are being viewed as one of the frontrunners to win it all.

As a result, many are starting to believe that the Clippers may have finally succeeded in being the better team in the city of Angels. Well, but are they really? This is arguably the best phase of the Clippers’ franchise, and despite that, they are yet to make an appearance in the NBA Finals, let alone win the title.

Former Los Angeles Sparks Player Gives A Reality Check To The Clippers

Former NFL player Marcellus Wiley recently supported the narrative of the Clippers running the L.A. and pointed out that the franchise has been better than its neighbors for a whole decade.

Upon seeing the tweet from Wiley, former Los Angeles Sparks star and WNBA legend Lisa Leslie gave him a reality check. She pointed out that the Clippers have small goals as compared to the Lakers.

“This is the problem when you set small goals. While you guys are so focused on dominating a city, the Lakers are dominating a league! Count It! Stop playing with @LakersNation @marcelluswiley.”

As pointed out by Leslie, the Lakers have 17 championship banners hanging in the rafters which should be enough to prove that they are the better team in the city.

The only way for the Clippers to surpass the Lakers would be to match that number of titles. Otherwise, they need to continue what they did for the last decade and win more regular season games. Even if the Clippers manage to pull all of this, it will still be a long process before they run the city of L.A.
