NBA Rumors: Clippers Should Trade Patrick Beverley And Maurice Harkless For Chris Paul

2 Min Read

The Los Angeles Clippers have been amongst the most active teams in trade talks this season. While their quest for a big man is taking over the rumor mill, why stop there?

With just one more piece, one more tweak of the roster, the Clippers could put themselves in prime position for a long playoff run this spring. And instead of trading for a big, rim-protecting center, they can target a veteran, offensive genius point guard who can spread the floor and create for others.

I present to you: Lob City 2.0. Imagine a deal like Chris Paul to the Thunder for Patrick Beverley, Maurice Harkless, JaMychal Green, and Jerome Robinson.

The Thunder get to clear Paul’s contract off the books while getting some talented pieces in return. With Beverley and Harkless, they can add depth and defensive intensity.

Of course, for the Clippers, it means the return of Chris Paul, arguably the best point guard in that franchise’s history. Though Father Time s beginning to take its tool, he has been nothing short of exceptional for the Thunder this season. His team-first mentality, coupled with his brilliance of the game, have helped the Thunder on numerous occasions. He is averaging a modest 16.7 points and 6.5 assists in 31 minutes per game this season.

While it may seem like a long-shot, Paul’s contract isn’t one that has been easy to move in the past. With the right price, for both sides, the Thunder may be willing to let him go — regardless of how well he has been playing. And for the Clippers, his return would electrify the franchise and might just add the star-power they need to secure their success in the Western Conference playoffs.
