Over the course of history, we’ve seen some really dominant duos that have taken the league by the horns out of the gate. Having a 1-2 punch is something every team must look up to, and today, we’re going to let you know about the top 10 duos in the NBA.

Honorable Mention:

LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan

The San Antonio Spurs new duo hasn’t played a minute together but they’re already looking like a very interesting double threat in the paint, although spacing is definitely going to be a major concern for Popovich.

Even if the Spurs are not going to be legit contenders this season, they feature two of the most dominant and prolific elbow scorers in DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge, and this experiment may be really interesting going forward.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton

We don’t talk about Khris Middleton enough. He’s one of the most underrated players in the league and doesn’t get the praise he deserves mostly because he’s playing with a superstar in the making like the Greek Freak.

These couple of guys have a strong bond a great chemistry. Middleton can stretch the floor and thrive off Giannis’ drives, while Antetokounmpo is simply one of the most impressive talents on earth, not to mention both of them are pretty solid defenders that can guard multiple spots.

10. John Wall and Bradley Beal

Bradley Beal has never been able to actually shine because of John Wall’s shadow, but truth to be told, he’s one of the best shooting guards in the world and has grown to be way more than just a three-point shooter.

Wall, on the other hand, may not be the coolest guy on earth but is one of the top-tier point guards in the world by a long shot. He’s one of the best playmakers and a deadly guy in passing lanes, becoming a one-man fast break that needs a better support cast to thrive.

9. Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum

The Portland Trail Blazers duo proved that they can be one of the most dominant duos in the world, but still, they need to have an offensive system that doesn’t consist on isolating these guys just because they’re two of the best scorers in the world.

Lillard and McCollum complement each other perfectly in the offensive end of the hardwood, although there are serious defensive liabilities with both of them on the court. Still, the Blazers are likely to break their backcourt apart and start from scratch.

8. Jimmy Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns

Jimmy Butler really made the Minnesota Timberwolves better, so it’s going to be a huge shame for them when he walks out the door. Still, he’s built some nice on-court chemistry with KAT, even if things aren’t that good off the hardwood.

Butler makes up for several of Towns’ defensive liabilities, while the big man is a much better shooter than Jimmy Buckets. Both of them can single-handedly carry the offensive load of the team, especially with Wiggins hiding through key stretches.

7. Kyle Lowry and Kawhi Leonard

We’re ranking the Toronto Raptors duo this low because we don’t know just yet how well Kawhi Leonard going to play following a year in the sidelines, and well because Lowry’s an epic choker in the playoffs.

Still, they’re both great three-point shooters and can create his own shot, and, when healthy, Kawhi is by far the best two-way player in the world and a major improvement over DeMar DeRozan.

6. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert

This duo is keen to dominate the Western Conference in a couple of years for sure, featuring a perennial Defensive Player of the Year and one of the most promising young scorers the league has seen in years.

Mitchell isn’t afraid of the moment and he’s going to take the big shot when it matters the most, while Gobert is the best rim protector and one of the most dominant rebounders in both sides of the glass.

5. Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward

Sadly, we only got to see this duo play together for about 5 minutes, but now that they’re both healthy, we’re going to be in for a treat when they take the floor for the renewed and reinforced Boston Celtics.

As a matter of fact, the Celtics feature another promising duo in Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, and if it wasn’t for the Golden State Warriors, they were the clear frontrunners to take home the Chip this season.

4. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons

It took a while for the Philadelphia 76ers to be able to unleash both of their young studs, but now that they’re finally healthy and able to play together, they’re looking like a dynasty in the making and a team that will dominate the East for years.

Embiid is an offensive talent we haven’t seen on a big man since the Dream, while also being a solid defender that could guard all the way to the perimeter. On the other hand, Simmons is already the craftiest passer in the league and a walking triple-double threat.

3. Russell Westbrook and Paul George

We were all pretty shocked and excited to watch Paul George come back for the Oklahoma City Thunder to play another season next to Russell Westbrook, as the duo was really fun to watch all year long.

George is the shooter the Thunder needs next to a driver as Westbrook, while his outstanding defense in the wings really helped hide some of the Brodie’s defensive flaws. Also, Russ has the clutchness PG has lacked throughout his entire career, so they complement each other pretty well.

2. James Harden and Chris Paul

It’s pretty safe to say the Harden – Paul experiment was a huge success for the Houston Rockets as they were just a quarter away of beating the Golden State Warriors and make it to the NBA Finals.

Harden is playing the best ball of his career and Chris Paul is a walking Hall of Famer that brought a lot of hustle and defensive energy to this squad, even though we believe they’re never going to have a chance to beat the Dubs like they had last season.
