Kevin Durant does not hold back from being blunt with his fans. Following the trade to the Rockets and the start of the preseason, Durant has been targeted by Suns fans who seem to be relishing the aftermath of his move. The Rockets’ superstar decided to give some of that harshness back to them as he essentially admitted on social media that the Suns are no longer championship contenders since he has left.
A social media user targeted Durant after a Suns’ bench celebration video went viral. While on the face of the post, the user thanked Durant, he claimed the Suns won the trade for getting rid of the superstar. This did not sit well with the 37-year-old NBA superstar, who subtly shut him down with cold kindness.
“No expectations=better vibes. Enjoy the season, brother,” wrote Durant on X after a Suns fan with the username ‘@ssyriek’ tagged Durant on the video.
The Suns are widely considered one of the weakest teams in the league at the moment. Therefore, Durant is seemingly pointing out that since the Suns have no expectations on their shoulders, the atmosphere in the franchise is a lot more relaxed and lively. While Suns players might disagree with him, the Rockets forward seemed stern about his opinion.

Kevin Durant was further accused by Suns fans, this time, those who were not happy with Durant’s decision to leave. A user on X claimed that Durant had massively failed in meeting the expectations that the team had from him.
“You didn’t perform and meet the expectations of us Suns fans, KD. You screwed the Suns franchise really badly. I will enjoy watching your failures this season and seeing you drop off into irrelevance in the years to come. History will remember you as being a selfish a**hole, KD,” wrote the frustrated fan on X.
“I know, brother, Better days ahead,” responded Durant, seemingly wanting to redefine that image with the Rockets.
One of the main criticisms that Durant has faced in his career is that he could never win a title without a superteam. Every team he had been on since leaving the Thunder in 2016 was arguably a superteam. But the Rockets are not a superteam, and they only have one young All-Star, Alperen Sengun, on the team other than Durant. Therefore, he has a chance to redefine his career by helping a team that hasn’t been to the NBA Finals since 1995 to get their first championship of this century.
Last season, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on the Suns last season while shooting 43% from beyond the arc.
