Watch: Kawhi Leonard Jokingly Says He Wants To Win Oscar During NBA Ad

Kawhi Leonard thinks he's a pretty good actor.

4 Min Read

Superstar Kawhi Leonard is the face of the Los Angeles Clippers, and typically, he is mentioned in the media for his exploits on the court. However, recently, Leonard made headlines for a different reason.

A video of an NBA advertisement featuring Kawhi Leonard went viral recently, with the star hilariously rating his acting skills and stating that he wants to win an Oscar Academy Award.

Interviewer: How would you rate yourself as an actor?

Kawhi Leonard: 10 out of 10.

Interviewer: One take?

Leonard: I wouldn’t say one take. I want it to be great. I want to win an Oscar.

There is no doubt that this is a funny clip featuring Leonard, and hopefully, we see him end up doing more commercials in the future. For an NBA player, his acting seems pretty solid, and perhaps we’ll see more examples of this later on in the year.

During the 2022-23 regular season, Leonard averaged 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game, while shooting 41.6% from 3PT range. When healthy, he is one of the best superstars in the league, and hopefully, we see him have a productive season this year.

Kawhi Leonard Has Charisma And A Sense Of Humor

During his time in the NBA, Leonard developed a reputation as a “robot” as he is frequently neutral in terms of expression when put in front of a camera or when doing interviews. However, it seems as though that impression of the superstar is wrong. Paul George previously dispelled the “robot” narrative surrounding Leonard, claiming that his co-star is actually “charismatic”.

“People don’t realize like he is as normal as possible and he’s a funny dude and he’s charismatic and he has a personality. I don’t know why people think he’s a robot.”

Players don’t always show their true personalities when put in front of a camera, and that is entirely okay. Ultimately when it comes to sports, what most people care about is performance on the court. When Leonard is at his best, he can go toe-to-toe with any superstar in the league, and on-court performance isn’t a problem when he’s healthy.

Kawhi Leonard Has A Lot Of Pressure On Him To Win A Championship This Season

There is no doubt that the Leonard era on the Los Angeles Clippers has not been great overall thus far. Though the team did manage to get to one Western Conference Finals, the expectation when he arrived was clearly a championship win.

This season might be the last chance for this version of the Clippers to do something meaningful in the Western Conference. They have everything they need to succeed around their stars, and now the onus is on Leonard and George to win at the highest level.

Hopefully, we see the Clippers find success this season. They are one of the most talented teams in the league when healthy, and we’ll see how this year unfolds for them.
