  • Luka Doncic knows that his complaining is an issue
  • The superstar noted that there are times where he doesn’t “control” himself
  • Other stars deal with similar coverages and treatment from defenses to Luka Doncic

Superstar Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the league today, and there’s no doubt that he is a talented offensive player. However, even he has some weaknesses that must be improved upon.

One of the issues that Luka Doncic has to work on is his constant complaining to the referees. In fact, Luka Doncic even called out the officiating between Slovenia vs. Canada after his team got eliminated. It is clear that he is no fan of the officials. However, it does seem as though Doncic understands that he needs to improve in terms of his treatment toward the officials, according to Tim Cato of The Athletic.

“Doncic understands that his behavior is a problem. “It’s a lot of emotions,” he told reporters afterward. “A lot of times, I don’t control myself, which I’ve been having problems with.””

Hopefully, we do see Luka Doncic focus less on complaining to the officials, and more on the game. It is true that there are sometimes fouls on him that go uncalled: but that is also true for every star that commands a lot of attention from the defense. Almost all high-level players deal with similar issues, but there are a lot of them that do not complain in such a manner.

This past season, Luka Doncic averaged 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game. He can be an MVP-level talent, but he needs to lead the Mavericks to a top seed to get selected for the award.

Luka Doncic Showed Respect For Dillon Brooks’ Defense

There is no doubt that even when Luka Doncic has to deal with tough defense that challenges him, he shows his respect to the opponent. We saw Dillon Brooks do a good job on Luka Doncic defensively, and Luka Doncic previously explained why respects Brooks.

“I think Dillon played great. He was very physical like he always does. A lot of people don’t like him, but I respect him for what he does and he does that stuff really good.”

It is true that Dillon Brooks is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, and game recognizes game. Even if Dillon Brooks is one of the people that fouls frequently on that end of the floor, he is physical and elite at his job. Luka Doncic respects good players, and he understands that what Brooks does is valuable.

Luka Doncic Could Become The First $80 Million A Season Player

Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the league, even with all of the complaining directed at the referees. Teams are willing to do whatever it takes to get him, and that obviously involves paying him large sums of money. In fact one NBA analyst predicted that Luka Doncic will be the first player to make $80 million annually.

It remains to be seen whether Luka Doncic can lead the team to win a championship. He has the talent to do so, but obviously there is also an element of luck involved as well. He is worth every penny for any team that gets him, and hopefully, that team is the Mavericks.
