  • Luka Doncic could be in line for a huge contract
  • Bobby Marks predicted Luka Doncic could become the first $80 million player
  • There are other candidates for that such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Guard Luka Doncic is one of the best superstars in the league right now, with many people believing that he is already an MVP-level talent. Doncic is clearly one of the most versatile offensive players in the league, and he could end up leading the Dallas Mavericks to a championship.

  • Luka Doncic Could Become The Greatest International Superstar In History

The salaries in the NBA have continued to go up, coinciding with the league’s ever-increasing popularity. We saw Jaylen Brown sign a five-year, $304 million deal this summer, for example, the richest deal in league history. When the time comes for Luka Doncic to sign an extension, Doncic would likely get the most money out of any player in the league. In fact, NBA analyst Bobby Marks could become “the first” player to ever make $80 million annually.

“Luka Doncic could be probably the first $80 million dollar guy.”

Though that number seems astronomical as of right now, if the salary cap keeps increasing, then it is entirely possible that Doncic will sign a contract worth $80 million annually.

This past season, Luka Doncic averaged 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game while shooting 49.6% from the field. He is clearly a supreme talent, and we’ll see how well he does over the next few seasons.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Could Become The First Player To Sign A Five-Year, $400 Million Deal

There are clearly other players who could be candidates to sign a five-year, $400 million deal and make $80 million annually. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander could be one of them, and previously, CBS Sports predicted that Gilgeous-Alexander would be the first start to sign a $400 million contract.

“So if he wants to tack five years onto his deal, he will have to wait until the summer of 2026. If he does so and remains at the All-NBA level he reached last season, he has a real chance to become the NBA’s first $400 million player.”

It remains to be seen if Gilgeous-Alexander will sustain his current level of play. This past season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 31.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, while shooting 51.0% from the field. He is clearly an All-NBA talent, and if he can have sustained success, he could end up being viewed in the same light as Luka Doncic and other top-tier superstars.

Luka Doncic Could Become The Greatest International Superstar In History

There’s no doubt that Luka Doncic is one of the best talents in the league, and he is among the top international players in the NBA. In fact, Paul George claimed that Doncic is in line to become the greatest international superstar in NBA history.

“With his size, his scoring ability, his playmaking, his IQ, his vision… we’re talking about being the biggest international player now,” said George. “That’s surpassing GOATs like Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Hakeem… he’s got the chance to be the biggest international guy.”

It remains to be seen how Luka Doncic will end his career. He seems like a lock to be in the Hall of Fame, and we’ll see how many championships he will win before it is all said and done.
