Miami Heat head honcho Pat Riley had a rather perplexing and grim update amid all the trade buzz surrounding the team.

While the focus is getting Jimmy Butler the support he needs to help the Heat gun for a championship, Riley’s words came in as a damp squib.

“You’re right. I would like to try to get him more support…. But right now, it’s on his shoulders. And that happens with a lot of great players. I would like to pick the perfect complement to him, but it’s not that easy.” (via 5 Reasons Sports)

His words come on the back of the Heat missing out on a chance to land Bradley Beal, who was traded to the Phoenix Suns instead. While the next objective is Damian Lillard, there has been radio silence since he is yet to request a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers and the chances of that happening are bleak.

Despite Butler and Bam Adebayo’s heroics, the Heat fell well short in the Finals against the Nuggets, going down 4-1, and should they maximize their chances of winning another title, they need some help.

Jimmy Butler Is Optimistic That The Miami Heat Can Win A Championship With Him

Despite failing to lead the Heat to win the NBA championship this season, Butler is still supremely confident about his chances of winning a ring with Miami.

“It’s been great,” Butler said during the postgame conference. “I’ve had some hell of teammates come through here and compete with me and give us the opportunity to win a championship. I still believe with everything in me that we will do as a team here, as an organization, as a city in Miami.”

He further added: “The four years have been great. It’s always great to be wanted and loved and appreciated. I don’t think that’s gonna change but for the time being… I’m grateful man that we made it here.”

Butler will be crucial to the Heat’s chances of winning a title, and by Riley’s own admission, he will have to bear the cross for more time before he finds suitable support. But for those who have witnessed Butler’s grit, there is no doubt that he will heavily benefit from having another star in the mix.
